Review of "Return of the Christmas Spirit" by Susan Buchanan

Image
This is such a heartwarming book, guaranteed to get nearly everyone into the Christmas Spirit! (There are always the odd few that won't go there in spite of miracles!) Star, who works at the library is able to help put some good luck back into peoples' lives very effortlessly, almost like waving a fairy wand! She becomes involved with the stories of some of the people who frequent the library that vary with age and type of problem they are experiencing.  In this book we get a glimpse at some very real and everyday issues that people of all ages are currently going through and struggling with. We can relate to them, either by personal knowledge or knowing someone with those problems.  Evan is unemployed and struggling to meet the Christmas expectations of his children.  Arianna is studious and struggling with her parent's divorce as she doesn't see much of her mother who is always working and her father who has moved away. She could use some company.  D

Review of "The Reinvention of Mimi Finnegan" by Whitney Dineen

Image
Mimi Finnegan always felt "less than" when comparing herself to her three glamourous sisters. She wasn't sure that being the one with the "prettiest feet" was the greatest accolade. She did hang onto it though until the pretty feet began to give her problems. Her appointment with the podiatrist starts a chain of events that see Mimi join weightwatchers, (which she practices with her own spin on it), develop a taste for high fashion and a desire to meet the "right man".  Her sisters attempt to match make which backfires slightly on the first attempt as Mimi ends up unceremoniously falling into a swimming pool. The intended match did not seem to be an instant attraction but somehow Mimi realises that she has fallen for him which is not very timely as she discovers the famous English novelist actually has a "friend" that he wants to propose to while in the U.S of A. How can Mimi prove to him that she is actually the right wo

Review of "Cape Cod Promises" by Bella Andre and Melissa Foster

Image
Sometimes two people are just meant to be together and if it doesn't work out the first time, maybe it will the next! This seems to be the case for Trent and Reese although there are many questions to be asked of each other as to why ten years have gone by without discussion?  This is a warm, romantic and very sexy story about a couple and their extended family and is set in a beautiful location that the writers' bring alive for their readers. For the young Reese, moving to New York with her new husband was the wrong thing to do.  More comfortable on the island than in the big city, Reese felt lost and alone while her husband was chasing his ambitions and trying to make his family proud. Her inability to fit in and to try and hide her feelings from Trent resulted in early divorce and a return home for Reese while her husband carried on alone for ten years without ever fighting for her. The hurt for them both was deep and when Trent returns to take on the fa

A Review of "Seaside Nights" by Melissa Foster

Image
This is the first book I have read by Melissa Foster involving the characters in this story. Obviously I have been missing out and have been so impressed by this story that  I need to go and read the rest!   I love the way two people are obviously so perfect for each other - Sky and Sawyer - however there is a great big "but" that threatens the future of their relationship. The chemistry is there for all to see and Sky doesn't hold back on that, however Sawyer's choice of career, or, way to earn good money, proves to be a controversial point and one that Sky is not sure she can handle. Although Sawyer has very good reason to do what he was doing, Sky wishes he would stick to music and poetry, things she is very comfortable with and what brought them together, asides from the obvious physical attraction and need for each other. This book is full of strong and colourful characters, Sky being one of the strongest. Relationships figure largely as there is

"The Rest of My Life" by Sheryl Browne

Image
Wow! Sheryl Browne has excelled herself with this book.... there is not much it doesn't have! Love, hate, sex, violence, apparitions.........     When Sienna first sets eyes on local Lothario and bad boy, Adam, she was in for one heck of a ride... in more ways than one!  Literally haunted by his past, Adam is living a promiscuous and alcohol fuelled existence made possible by his irresistible good looks and no apparent need for commitment.  This made him a favourite with neglected married women and hated by their husbands. But then he met Sienna, single and emotionally wounded, who needed him in a completely different way and completely addled his way of looking at relationships.      Despite receiving advice from friends and family to stay away, Sienna could not erase what she knew she had seen in the eyes of this man who could take her places she had never been before. In the name of research for her novel, she learnt more about her body and the art of lovemakin

Review of "7 Years of Bad Sex" by Nicky Wells

Image
Nicky Wells - Author This time Nicky Wells has taken it to her readers in a big way!! Already known for her Rock Star themed tales, this time we are really let into the sex, drugs and rock and roll lifestyle - in a very unique way! Well, the band is doing well, the drugs are a bit accidental and the sex ...., erm,  maybe not quite up to muster! Casey and Alex are great friends, co-band members and lovers.  They tie the knot in a spectacular fashion off the French coast and all should be rosy but something happens and the earth moves - no, not in that way - and they find themselves faced with issues that no married couple want to admit to. Their methods at finding a solution to their problems, along with some help from their band-member friends and, some colourful new acquaintances, make hilarious reading. Touching on a frequently taboo topic this book actually does give us readers something to think about! I really do not want to give too much away as this is a

Review of "Pandora's Prophecy" by Julie Ryan.

Image
Those of you who may have read my reviews before will know that I give very little of the storyline away and this one is no exception.  However, I only review books that I have enjoyed and I loved this one, firstly being drawn by it's location and then once I started reading, enjoying the suspense and the characters involved! "Pandora's Prophecy" is a fast paced adventure set in Greece and involves an assortment of events that revolve around the mysterious "Pandora" who influences the other characters at various points in the story. As in the myth about Pandora, there is a box to be opened but in this case it is full of good, not evil! This book combines the mood and flavour of Greece with several mysteries that need to be resolved. In true Greek tradition, there is tragedy with a healthy addition of romance and complicated relationships. Friendship, love, marriage and death are experienced in this story; from the perspective of a recently separ
